Behind the Laughter

There was a time when we would sing.

We would laugh and smile and dance to the time bell ring.

Every day seemed summer side sunshine, every thing was skippy fine.

Behind the laughter there was no love left behind.

There was time we would say.

Look at the bright side, you know were going home someday.

I never found that one I could count on, confusion bleached me grey.

The future getting darker and the end nearer every day.

I was a part from beliefs and pride. My poetry no longer rhymed.

I did succumb to the rules of wealthy people holding all the cards with their family ties.

I never learned how the game is won. Guess I was deaf to the starting gun.

And blinded by trash reflecting mayhem. I turned to the wind, the rain, and sun.

And the writers who bled ink on their pages. That time is done. A new war rages.

It is so that its better just to let it go.

I never knew what laughter means.

It was just a dance in the spot light.

Make another in vogue scene.

Until I seen your smiling eyes, tearing through my thin disguise.

Behind the laughter was your love I realized.

So we can smile, laugh, dance and sing.

Jump up grooving after midnight and dancing to the time bell ring.

Every day is summer side sunshine. Every thing is skippy fine.

Behind the laughter our love will forever shine. And be just fine.
